He placed responsibility for the conflict on Ukrainian territory on Kyiv, calling the country's desire to join the North Atlantic Alliance a key factor in the escalation.

"I think the war began when they started talking about joining NATO," Trump emphasized.

The American leader expressed conviction that there is no prospect of Ukraine joining NATO.
