Trump: Refusal to capture all of Ukraines territory would be a major concession from Russia

US President Donald Trump announced decisive days in negotiations on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict

This is reported by TUT.AZ with reference to TASS.

"We want to end this war. We want to end it quickly. And I think we've made great progress. And we'll see what happens in the next few days, which will be very important. Meetings are taking place right now," said the American leader during a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in the Oval Office of the White House.

Trump expressed confidence in the imminent achievement of a peace agreement acceptable to both sides of the conflict. "I believe they will accept this offer. And I think we'll be done with this soon," the US president emphasized.

According to the American leader, the key concession from Moscow should be the abandonment of plans to seize the entire territory of Ukraine. "Russia's concession is to stop the war and abandon the seizure of the entire territory of Ukraine," he noted.

Trump characterized such a step as a "major concession" on Moscow's part.

Regarding the issue of possible territorial concessions by Kyiv, the US president indicated that the decision depends on the specific territories, and assured full support for Ukraine. He also recalled the significant territorial losses that Ukraine has suffered during the conflict.

Speaking about Crimea, Trump expressed doubt about the possibility of its return to Kyiv's control, calling this task extremely difficult. He recalled that under the administration of Barack Obama, the peninsula came under Russia's control without the use of military force and without any military resistance from Ukraine.

The American leader also stated that he does not believe Russia is hindering the achievement of a ceasefire agreement: "I don't think so. I think they both (both Russia and Ukraine) want peace at this point, and that they both want to make a deal." He added that he is exerting "significant pressure" on Russia.

According to Trump, the question of a possible US withdrawal from the negotiation process on settling the conflict in Ukraine may become relevant in two weeks. However, the president expressed confidence that such a development would not occur, as the parties would reach an agreement.
