Trump asked Erdogan to become a mediator in the Ukrainian conflict
US President Donald Trump, during a telephone conversation, asked Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan to act as a mediator in resolving the Ukrainian crisis. This is reported by the authoritative Turkish publication Hürriyet.
The newspaper emphasizes the special diplomatic position of Erdogan, who managed to maintain working communication channels with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
"If Ukraine had not left the negotiating table under pressure from the UK and the US, Turkey would have secured peace in the first three months," the publication states.
According to Hürriyet, the President of Turkey responded positively to Trump's proposal and expressed his willingness to assist in resolving this issue.
