Japanese volcano Shinmoe awakens: a column of ash soared to a height of 5 kilometers over the prefectures of Miyazaki and Kagoshima. This is reported by Life, citing the SHOT Telegram channel.
Specialists note that an eruption of this scale has not been observed since 2018. The volcanic ash spread over an impressive area - within a radius of 50 kilometers from the epicenter. Notably, at the end of June, Shinmoe was showing only moderate activity, ejecting columns up to 500 meters high.
The situation in the region is complicated by the fact that the national meteorological agency has raised the danger level of another volcano - Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture - to level two.
As a result of the intensification of volcanic activity, three Japanese prefectures are in the potential danger zone at once: Miyazaki, Kagoshima, and Kumamoto.
