Media: Prison in southern France attacked with fireworks

On the night of April 23-24, the French department of Bouches-du-Rhône became the scene of bold attacks on two penitentiary institutions.

As reported by TUT.AZ, citing BFMTV, the incidents occurred almost simultaneously in different locations.

According to available information, the Aix-Luynes detention center was subjected to a massive fireworks attack. Shortly after midnight, vigilant staff members of the institution recorded shots fired at the building from a nearby parking lot.

On the same night, staff at the La Valentine juvenile prison in Marseille encountered two fires near the facility. The first fire was caused by a box of rockets and two firework sticks. The second incident led to a forest fire in the adjacent area.

"Over the past 10 days, 65 acts of aggression or damage to prisons and their staff have been committed across the country," the country's Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau stated earlier.
