A large-scale technical collapse hit the social network X in the USA. According to DownDetector data, more than 5,000 American users reported that Elon Musk's platform was not functioning.
The official X support service acknowledged the existence of a serious problem, explaining the situation as an accident in the company's key data center. Platform representatives hastened to assure users that the engineering team is already actively working to fix the issues and restore normal service functionality.
The well-known technology publication Wired, based on information from its own sources, claims that a fire occurred in the data center leased by Musk's company in Hillsboro (Oregon). However, there has been no official confirmation of the connection between this incident and the current problems in the social network's operation. Representatives of the local fire department have also not yet provided comments on this issue.
At the time of publication, the technical failure has been ongoing for several hours, although the number of new complaints is gradually decreasing, which may indicate the beginning of the platform's recovery.
Experts note that such technical incidents seriously undermine trust in the social network, which after being acquired by Elon Musk and rebranded from Twitter to X has already lost a significant number of users due to controversial changes in moderation policy and functionality.
