Israeli Media: Trump on the Threshold of a Historic Decision

According to several influential Israeli media outlets, US President Donald Trump is close to making an important decision that could seriously change Washington's policy in the Middle East. It concerns the possible US recognition of a Palestinian state. The announcement is expected to be made at the upcoming US and Gulf states summit in Riyadh.

As reported by The Jerusalem Post citing diplomatic sources, the proposed plan includes the creation of a Palestinian state with a key condition - without the participation of Hamas, which the US considers a terrorist organization.

The publication does not reveal specific mechanisms for implementing this initiative in the complex regional environment. A former diplomat from one of the Gulf states, al-Ibrahim, expressed skepticism that the Palestinian issue would take center stage on the agenda of the upcoming summit.

The information emerged against the backdrop of a recent high-profile announcement by the US and Israel about the cessation of military operations against Yemeni Houthis. Trump characterized the agreement, reached with Oman's mediation, as a "victory without shots fired" and a "capitulation of the Houthis."

However, representatives of the Houthi movement refuted this interpretation, clarifying that the agreement only concerns a temporary cessation of attacks on American vessels in the Red Sea. They emphasized their unwavering support for Palestine and maintaining the right to strike Israel.

Notably, the initiative for negotiations came from the American side, which approached Oman with a request for mediation. This may indicate Washington's desire to reduce regional tensions, although the Houthis apparently intend to continue actions against Israel until the completion of the IDF operation in the Gaza Strip.
