Increased magnetic storms expected on Earth

Russian scientists warn: powerful solar wind may hit Earth in the next 24 hours

As reported by TUT.AZ, the alarming forecast was published by specialists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in collaboration with scientists from the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"Observations are still lagging behind the forecast, and the expected morning values of 800-900 km/s have not yet been reached," the laboratory reported.

According to researchers, the geomagnetic activity index currently remains within normal limits. However, experts warn that the situation could change dramatically today - indicators are expected to transition first to the "yellow" and then to the "red" danger zones. According to calculations, the solar wind speed will reach the "orange" level, and geomagnetic disturbances will affect our planet for 1-2 days.

Scientists also note some increase in flare activity on the Sun, although no clear patterns have been identified yet. At present, these solar processes are not affecting Earth.
