Tragedy in Iraq: Death toll from shopping center fire rises to 63 people
As Reuters reports, citing local authorities, a catastrophic fire at a hypermarket in the city of Kut in eastern Iraq has claimed the lives of 63 people.
The fiery disaster completely engulfed the five-story shopping center building, which housed a large hypermarket, turning it into a deadly trap for visitors and staff.
According to a representative of the city health department, specialists have managed to identify 59 of the deceased, however one body still remains unidentified.
The rescue operation continues - the bodies of other victims of this terrible tragedy are still under the collapsed structures of the building.
