Elephant caused panic at a festival procession in India: the animal suddenly attacked the crowd

A festive event in the Indian city of Ahmedabad turned into minutes of horror when one of the elephants participating in the ceremonial procession suddenly rushed into the crowd of spectators. The incident occurred during the annual Rath Yatra festival, reports the Daily Mail. The shocking footage shows the huge animal knocking down several people, while frightened spectators panic and scatter in different directions. Some eyewitnesses, showing courage, rushed to help the victims.

Representatives of the local zoo promptly responded to the incident — the elephant was immediately given a sedative, following the established safety protocol. Fortunately, serious injuries were avoided, and the organizers quickly got the situation under control. Nevertheless, after the incident, it was decided not to involve this elephant in mass events anymore.
