Pixar's animated blockbuster "Inside Out 2" became the most profitable film of the past year, earning $650 million in net profit. With a total worldwide box office of $1.698 billion, it became the absolute leader among animated films and held the title of the highest-grossing animated film for a long time, until it yielded the palm of victory to the Chinese film "Nezha" in 2025. This is reported by Film.ru portal with reference to Deadline data.
🎬 "Moana 2" - a continuation of the beloved story about a Polynesian princess;
🦸♂️ "Deadpool and Wolverine" - the long-awaited union of superheroes in one Marvel film;
😈 "Despicable Me 4" - a new chapter in the adventures of minions and Gru;
🧙♀️ "Wicked: The Tale of the Witch of the West" - a musical fantasy inspired by the Broadway musical.
One of the main box office failures was "Joker: Folie à Deux" - despite the big names and large budget ($200 million), the project brought net losses of over $144 million, collecting only $227 million at the worldwide box office.
Also failed to meet expectations:
🚗 "Furiosa" - a prequel to "Mad Max" starring Anya Taylor-Joy;
🎮 "Borderlands" - an adaptation of the video game of the same name;
🏛 "Megalopolis" - a large-scale and expensive film by Francis Ford Coppola;
🕷 "Kraven the Hunter" - a spin-off from the Spider-Man universe.
🎥 Year summary: even big names and large budgets do not guarantee success. Animation, proven franchises, and superheroes still rule the film market.
