Russian cardiologist raises alarm: angina is a dangerous signal that cannot be ignored
As reported by TUT.AZ, renowned Russian cardiologist Evgenia Bogaevskaya revealed important aspects of one of the most insidious heart conditions in an interview with "Lenta.ru".
According to Bogaevskaya, angina manifests as a characteristic pressing or squeezing pain in the chest, which may radiate to the left arm, shoulder, neck, or lower jaw. The pain syndrome usually lasts no more than 15 minutes and is accompanied by a feeling of air shortage and shortness of breath.
"Angina is also called 'chest toad' - because of the pressing sensation that occurs behind the sternum, making it difficult to breathe," explained the cardiologist.
"It's important to understand that angina is not just about pain and discomfort. In fact, it's an important precursor to more serious heart diseases, including myocardial infarction," the doctor emphasized.
The specialist also noted categories of people with an increased risk of developing angina: elderly people, patients with hypertension, obesity and diabetes, smokers, people with high pulse rates, and those leading a sedentary lifestyle.
