Comet 3I/ATLAS confirmed by scientists as natural phenomenon

Comet 3I/Atlas "spoke": radio signals definitively confirm its natural origin

As reported by TUT.AZ, Natan Eismont, a leading researcher at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and an associate professor at the Department of Mechanics and Control Processes at RUDN University, informed TASS about an important discovery related to the mysterious interstellar visitor.

"Indeed, radio telescopes have detected a signal emitted by the comet in the decimeter range at frequencies of 1665-1667 megahertz, which is precisely characteristic of star-forming regions and comets," noted Eismont. According to him, the recorded radio emission occurs during the breakdown of water molecules under the influence of sunlight. "And this is the best evidence that comet 3I/Atlas has a natural origin," the scientist emphasized. Currently, astronomers around the world continue to observe this amazing object and will likely be able to receive new radio signals in the established frequency range.

Earlier, it was reported that comet 3I/ATLAS became the third registered interstellar object in the history of astronomical observations. It continues to approach Earth, however, it will remain invisible both to the naked eye and to amateur telescopes and binoculars. Observing 3I/ATLAS is possible exclusively with powerful telescopes of scientific observatories.

It is expected that on December 19, the comet will reach the point of maximum approach to our planet - at a distance of 269 million kilometers, after which their paths will begin to diverge. 3I/ATLAS is absolutely safe for Earth.
