Coins with prophecies about the end of the world discovered in Denmark

Ancient silver coins with symbols linked to biblical prophecies about the end of times have been discovered in Denmark.

This was reported by the Daily Mail.

The rare "Lamb of God" coins are adorned with the Greek letters Alpha and Omega, which are described in the Bible as "the Beginning and the End" — a phrase closely associated with the Book of Revelation. This is the prophecy of John the Theologian, written to the seven churches in Asia Minor. The book describes the events preceding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ to earth, which, according to previously recorded biblical prophecies, will be accompanied by numerous cataclysms and disasters.

The artifacts were discovered by treasure hunters in the South Jutland and Thy regions, after which they were handed over to the National Museum of Denmark for study.

As the publication notes, the tiny silver pieces bear expressive images carrying deep theological symbolism — they are linked to the sacrifice of Christ, judgment, and eternity. One side of the coin depicts the Lamb of God, elevated above the Alpha and Omega symbols. In Christian theology, this is a proclamation of God's supreme authority over the beginning and end of times. In the Book of Revelation, the "Lamb of God" is a central title of Jesus Christ, appearing 28 times.

"In the text, he is depicted as a lion-like lamb, and he alone, it is claimed, is worthy to open the scroll of history and initiate the final judgment and renewal," the publication writes.

A researcher from the museum stated that the coins were minted as a means of protection. The English king Æthelred demanded fasting and almsgiving, and also ordered the minting of coins with Christian motifs that were meant to protect the English people. Only about 30 such specimens are known worldwide, making the discovery of two new coins in Denmark an extraordinary find.
