Revolutionary breakthrough: IDIBELL scientists managed to "rejuvenate" blood stem cells using an innovative drug
As reported by TUT.AZ, the results of this impressive study were published in the authoritative scientific journal Nature Aging.
The aging process inevitably leads to a decrease in the functional capabilities of body tissues and is a major risk factor for the development of serious diseases.
"In particular, the deterioration of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in elderly people negatively affects not only their ability to restore the hematopoietic system, but is also directly related to the emergence of severe age-related diseases," the researchers note.
During experiments, scientists discovered that treating human stem cells with the drug Rhosin restores their functional properties: cells resume active division, form full-fledged immune cells, and demonstrate better engraftment after transplantation. In-depth analysis using machine learning technologies showed that the drug reorganizes the chromatin structure (a key DNA component) and reduces harmful tension in the nuclear envelope - factors considered to be the main mechanisms of cell aging.
Scientists emphasize that unlike traditional methods aimed at slowing down the effects of aging, the innovative approach addresses its root cause. If Rhosin's effectiveness is confirmed during clinical trials, pharmacological "rejuvenation" of the hematopoietic system could become an effective way to prevent age-related diseases.
