Trump admitted the possibility of meeting with Zelensky in Rome

US President Donald Trump has admitted the possibility of meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to Rome.

This is reported by TUT.AZ with reference to TASS.

Speaking with journalists at the White House before departing for the funeral events on the occasion of the death of Pope Francis, the American leader noted that he plans to hold a series of meetings "with many foreign leaders" in the Italian capital.

"I will be meeting with the Italians, yes," Trump confirmed, speaking about the leadership of Italy. When one of the journalists clarified whether he was referring to the Prime Minister, the president was explained that the question concerned a possible meeting with Zelensky. "Ah, I see... Well... It's possible," replied the head of the White House, without revealing any details.

The 266th Pope Francis (Argentine Jorge Mario Bergoglio), who had led the Roman Catholic Church since 2013 after the abdication of his predecessor Benedict XVI, died on April 21. The funeral - a service in St. Peter's Basilica and burial in the Church of St. Mary Major (Santa Maria Maggiore) - will take place on April 26. The presidents of Brazil, USA, and France have already announced their decision to attend. Representatives of different churches and denominations will also gather. Trump will leave Rome on the evening of April 26 and return to the United States.
