Ronaldos sister responds to criticism for brothers absence from Jotas funeral

Ronaldo's sister revealed the reason for her brother's absence at the funeral of the tragically deceased Liverpool footballer

"When my father died in 2005, we had to deal with a stream of cameras and curious onlookers at the cemetery and everywhere we went. And the attention wasn't like it is now, we couldn't leave the chapel," Aveiro wrote in an emotional social media post.

The shocking car accident that cut short Diogo Jota's life occurred on July 3 in the province of Zamora in western Spain. The talented forward was only 28 years old. At the fatal moment, his brother Andre, who played for the Portuguese club "Penafiel," was with him. Both footballers tragically died, unable to escape from the flame-engulfed vehicle.

Fate dealt an especially cruel blow - just a few days before the tragic incident, Jota had tied the knot.

In the completed English Premier League season, Diogo Jota became a champion with Liverpool. During the season, the talented Portuguese played 26 matches in the EPL, scoring six goals. In the Champions League, the footballer played four matches without any productive actions. Since his transfer to Liverpool in 2020, Jota participated in 182 matches, scoring 65 goals.
