Putin: I hope that the understandings reached with the US will open the road to peace in Ukraine

Putin expressed hope that agreements with the US will open the way to a peaceful settlement in Ukraine

As TASS reports, the head of the Russian state said this during a joint press conference.

"Russia has considered and still considers the Ukrainian people as brotherly, and what is happening - a tragedy and severe pain.

I am confident that there would have been no war in Ukraine if Trump had been the US president. I expect that the sooner the conflict in Ukraine can be brought to an end, the better," noted the Russian leader.

According to him, Russia is ready to work on Ukraine's security: "Moscow is sincerely interested in putting an end to the crisis around Ukraine".
