Michael Jackson's former lawyer revealed the true cause of the pop music legend's death. In an interview with Radar Online, Brian Oxman stated that the singer was "destroyed" by the grueling court cases over sexual abuse allegations.
In 2005, four years before the tragic death of the king of pop music, Jackson faced accusations of molesting 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo at his famous Neverland Ranch. Despite the acquittal, the scandal caused irreparable damage to the artist's reputation – public opinion sharply turned against him.
According to Oxman's recollections, "Michael would call dozens of times at night. He kept asking: 'Why? I treated them so well, and they make up these lies.' He couldn't find an answer to this question until his death." The high-profile scandal and the subsequent loss of fans led the star to deep emotional exhaustion.
The artist also felt betrayed by British journalist Martin Bashir, who interviewed him for the controversial television documentary "Living with Michael Jackson," which portrayed the singer as a pedophile.
This, according to Oxman, caused Jackson intense fear – he admitted that he would not survive in prison if convicted, as other inmates treat those convicted of sexual abuse with particular cruelty.
In 2009, the legendary performer died of cardiac arrest caused by an overdose of a powerful sleeping medication. Michael Jackson was only 50 years old.
