EU prepares new package of sanctions against Russia

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced a new package of EU sanctions against Russia, which is planned to be approved by the end of June.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to TASS, he announced this during a joint press conference with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Berlin.

"Regarding sanctions, the European Union is already actively developing the next package. A decision on this issue should be made by the end of June," said the Chancellor, emphasizing that the restrictive measures will affect the energy sector and the so-called shadow fleet.

"We are determined, including myself personally, to implement this consistently with the maximum possible coordination within the European Union. We will not be able to cope with this task alone. However, we will certainly make every effort to convince hesitant countries of the correctness of the chosen course," emphasized the head of the German government.
