Elon Musk lashes out with accusations against Apple and OpenAI: billionaire alleges conspiracy between tech giants
According to Euronews, Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has filed a massive 61-page lawsuit in a Texas federal court. Speaking on behalf of his companies xAI and X Corp, the entrepreneur accused the tech giants of attempting to stifle competition in the artificial intelligence market.
According to Musk's statement, Apple is deliberately promoting ChatGPT and other OpenAI products in its App Store, while simultaneously downgrading the ratings of competing solutions, including his own chatbot Grok. In the lawsuit document, the partnership between the two corporations is described as "a story about how two monopolists joined forces to maintain dominance in a world where artificial intelligence is becoming the main technology".
The lawsuit also claims that Apple perceives artificial intelligence as a direct threat to its "iPhone empire," which pushed the company to collude with OpenAI. In turn, OpenAI, according to Musk, after the high-profile success of ChatGPT, prioritizes commercial gain over safety concerns in an effort to secure leading positions in the market. Notably, Musk's accusations echo the antitrust investigation initiated by the US Department of Justice against Apple a year ago. Now the billionaire is demanding not only financial compensation but also a court injunction against the alleged "illegal tactics" of both corporations.
