Cigarette sales are falling: what are tobacco giants betting on?

Global tobacco giants are actively switching to the production of "white snus" - nicotine pouches based on synthetic nicotine, in the face of falling demand for traditional cigarettes, seeking to maintain their profits.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to the Financial Times, the medical community is raising the alarm, as the potential harm of this alternative form of nicotine delivery remains insufficiently studied and may exceed the risks from traditional tobacco in some indicators.

Notably, "white snus" is gaining popularity even among the political elite of different countries. For instance, newly elected Polish President Karol Nawrocki found himself at the center of a scandal when he used a nicotine pouch right during a televised debate. US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert Kennedy Jr. also openly admits to using this method of obtaining nicotine.

In response to the growing popularity of nicotine pouches, medical experts and health authorities around the world are insisting on the need for stricter regulation of these products.
