In the USA, a gas station cashier found a unique Kennedy coin worth $3.2 million (249.6 million rubles) among the change. This was reported by Elcabildo.
Steve Whitmore, while counting the day's earnings, noticed an unusual 50-cent coin that stood out by its color among the other change. Intrigued by the find, the man consulted numismatic specialists who confirmed the sensational discovery: a rare prototype of a 50-cent coin from 1964 with President John Kennedy's profile had made its way into the gas station's cash register.
Although similar coins are still issued today, the specimen found by Whitmore was 90 percent pure silver. The find's special historical and collector's value comes from the fact that it was made shortly after Kennedy's tragic assassination in November 1963. Eventually, the unique coin was sold at auction for more than three million dollars. "The thought that one coin could be worth more than my entire business was something incredible," the American shared his impressions.
