American aircraft carrier heading to the Middle East turned off its transponder

US Navy aircraft carrier USS Nimitz "dissolved" in the sea expanses: the ship turned off tracking systems on its way to the Middle East

As reported by RIA Novosti, the flagship of the American fleet USS Nimitz (CVN-68) suddenly disappeared from surveillance radars. The last signal from the mighty sea giant was recorded on June 17 at 06:03 (Baku time), when the ship was cutting through waters between Malaysia and Indonesia, developing a speed of 19 knots.

Specialists who analyzed the latest data on the aircraft carrier's course are certain: USS Nimitz is heading toward the Persian Gulf. The warship has been directed to this troubled region with an important mission — to provide protection for American military facilities amid growing tensions between Iran and Israel. Turning off the transponder was a strategic step to maintain the secrecy of the route in such a tense situation.
