A new Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces has been appointed

Major reshuffling in the leadership of the Turkish Armed Forces

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Anadolu, significant personnel changes have occurred in the High Command of the Turkish Armed Forces. By decision of the Supreme Military Council, the Chief of the General Staff, Army General Metin Gürak, has left his post. Former Commander of the Land Forces, Army General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, has been appointed to this key position.

The vacated position of Commander of the Land Forces has been filled by Army General Metin Tokel, who previously headed Turkey's 1st Army.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the Naval Forces, Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, and the Commander of the Air Forces, Army General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu, have retained their positions - their terms have been extended for one year.

All personnel changes in the highest military leadership have been officially approved by the President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
