Tokayev: The unity of the peoples of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan was vividly demonstrated after the plane crash near Aktau

Kazakhstan has sincere feelings for Azerbaijan, with which it shares the shores of the ancient Caspian Sea.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Kazakhstani media, this was stated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the XXXIV session of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan.

"Peace and stability are not gifts that fate has bestowed upon us. This is the result of our unity and our common tireless efforts. We were convinced of this again last year when a plane crash occurred near Aktau. Our citizens rushed to help the victims. They stood in lines to donate blood. They laid flowers at the Embassy of Azerbaijan. The whole world admired the unity and selflessness of our people," he emphasized.

According to the head of state, mercy, compassion, and goodwill are integral features of the national character of Kazakhstanis.

Recall that an AZAL passenger plane, operating the Baku - Grozny flight, crashed on December 25 near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. The tragedy claimed the lives of 38 people out of 67 on board, 29 passengers were rescued.

According to preliminary data, the plane crashed as a result of physical and technical external interference in Russian airspace.
