The simple secret of attracting the opposite sex has been revealed

Psychologists have discovered: willingness to protect in dangerous situations is more attractive than physical strength. Research has confirmed that the decisive factor in attractiveness is precisely the desire to take risks for another person, not the ability to win.

As TUT.AZ reports with reference to the scientific journal Evolution and Human Behavior, scientists came to this interesting conclusion while conducting research on the influence of various qualities on the attractiveness of friends and romantic partners.

Researchers emphasize that throughout many centuries of human history, the threat of violence has been a constant companion of life. In ancient times, when there was neither police nor courts, human survival directly depended on the support of close ones – family, friends, and partners. This, scientists believe, has formed in people a special evolutionary sensitivity not to the physical capabilities of an ally, but to their internal readiness to stand up in defense.

During a large-scale series of experiments, more than four thousand volunteers studied various scenarios of aggressor attacks, where a nearby friend or partner either stood up for them, stepped aside, or simply ignored what was happening. The defender was described with different physical attributes – from weak to strong.

The results were unequivocal: the mere demonstration of willingness to protect significantly increased a person's attractiveness, regardless of their physical strength. Conversely, refusal to intervene was perceived extremely negatively, especially by women when evaluating men – unwillingness to stand up reduced attractiveness practically to zero.

Particularly curious is that even a failed attempt at protection was rated much higher than inaction. If a partner intervened but lost in the fight and couldn't prevent harm, they still maintained a much higher attractiveness compared to someone who preferred to avoid the conflict. Scientists believe that the key signal for a person is precisely the demonstration of loyalty and willingness to take risks, not the final outcome of the conflict situation.
