Scientists sound the alarm: fast food may cause dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Regular consumption of fast food poses a serious threat to the nervous system in the long term, warns gastroenterologist and expert from "Gemotest" laboratory Ekaterina Kashukh in an exclusive interview with RIAMO.
The specialist revealed the alarming mechanism of fast food's impact on the body: frequent consumption of such food destructively affects the intestinal microflora, which through complex metabolic processes is directly connected to brain function and human cognitive abilities.
Kashukh drew attention to the results of scientific studies indicating a possible link between fast food addiction and an increased risk of depression. However, the doctor calls for caution when interpreting this data.
In addition to the threat to the brain, a diet consisting mainly of burgers and french fries provokes a general deterioration in health. Such nutrition leads to a dangerous vitamin deficiency and can cause serious complications due to a critical shortage of necessary nutrients and fiber. Medical professionals also emphasize that fast food lovers significantly increase their chances of developing obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.
